The Niskayuna Girls Softball League (NGSL) provides a rewarding softball experience to both recreational and travel softball players in the Niskayuna area. NGSL is dedicated to teaching girls about the sport of softball and how to work together as a team in a supportive and encouraging environment. We provide a positive learning environment and teach the skills necessary to play competitive softball.

Registration for Niskayuna Girls Recreational Softball is now open for any girl in grades K-8 (pre-K accepted, too!)! The 2026 season runs from mid-April to mid-June, and all practices/games are held at the River Road Park or Avon Crest Park softball fields.

COST:

• $125 per player at the K/1 Level
• $150 per player 2nd Grade and Up
• $25 LATE FEE (if you register after February 28)
• Plus a $15 discount for siblings!

SCHEDULE:

• Grades K-1 (6U): Mondays 5:30pm and Saturdays 8:30am*
• Grades 2-3 (8U): Tuesdays 5:30pm and Saturdays 10:15am*
• Grades 4-5 (10U): Wednesdays 5:30pm and Saturdays 12:30pm*
• Grades 6-8 (15U): Thursdays 5:30pm and Saturdays 2:45pm* (please note for 6-8 game days may vary since most will be against other town rec leagues...we will do our best to focus on Thursdays and Saturdays!)

*Depending on final number of teams and weather cancellations, times may change slightly. 

**To start the season, games will only be on Saturdays, while practices will be held on weekday slots. Then the schedule will turn to 2 games/week to limit the time commitment to 2 days/week.

PLAYER EQUIPMENT NEEDED:
Softball glove, batting helmet, face shield and sneakers (cleats are highly recommended and bats are recommended, but players can share if needed) are required for play. Please label items with the player’s name.

• 2/28/26: Registration closes (late registrants will be allowed but will pay a $25 late fee)
• Mid-March: Coaches will start to be notified of rosters and will communicate to players/families. 
• 3/19/26: Coaches Welcome Webex Meeting. Details to come.
• 3/27/26, 8am-2pm: Rec Kickoff Event! Details to come.
• 3/28/26, 9am-12pm: Field Clean Up Day (weather permitting)!
• 3/29/26: Optional rec team practices can begin (weather permitting). Details to come.
• 4/18/26: OPENING DAY CEREMONY- REC GAMES BEGIN!
• 4/27/26: Rec photo night! Details to come.
• 5/16/26: No games, but join NGSL and walk in the Niska Day Parade!
• 5/23/26: Memorial Day Weekend- no games.
• 6/6/26: Rec picnic! Final day of games.
• 6/29-7/2: NGSL Slide Into Summer Camp with Coach Ashley and Coach Nichole!

Welcome | Winter Indoor Clinics | Niskayuna Girls Softball League

• Where: Glencliff Elementary School Gym. Please enter through the gym entrance and proceed directly into the gym.
• When: January Fridays (1/9, 1/16, 1/23, 1/30) from 6-7:30pm. Participation in all encouraged to build on skills learned the previous session!
• Ages: Any age between pre-K-5th grade. If older kids are interested, please let us know!
• Clinic subjects/topics: Each clinic will involve a combination of softball concepts, defensive and offensive skills. 
• Cost: $10/clinic 
• What to bring: players should wear sneakers/athletic clothing and bring a glove, bat, helmet, fielding face shield and water bottle. If someone does not have all of the equipment, it’s fine. Much of it can be shared/borrowed at the clinics. We will try to bring a couple of extra items to each clinic as well.
